Ioannis Kamarianos is a professor of Sociology, Sociology of Education and Research Methodology at the Department of Education and Social Work at the University of Patras. He obtained an undergraduate degree in Sociology from the University of Crete (1990) and he was awarded a Ph.D. degree in Sociology (1996). In 2002, he became a lecturer at the University of Patras. He has taught sociology, research methodology (qualitative & quantitative) and sociology of education at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels since 1997. His research interests focus on issues that concern sociology, sociology of education, educational and social research.
He is also a member of research groups and has participated in about 25 funded research programs on aspects that concern sociology, sociology of education, diversity, and citizenship. He has supervised undergraduate dissertations and postgraduate theses and has participated in supervision committees of Ph.D. degrees, in postgraduate programs of the University of Patras, University of Peloponnese, University of Western Macedonia, and in the Aegean University.
He is a member of the Greek, European and International Sociology Association, and also a member of editorial boards of Greek and international journals. He has also been a member of scientific committees of national and international congresses. Finally, he has published 11 books as a single author and co-author (three of which are in English). His works have been included in several books. He has published more than 100 articles most of which in international journals and proceedings of international conferences.
